BIG ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE HAUNTED AMERICA CONFERENCE!
Change of Venue for the General Conference Events

We have a major change to announce with just a month to go before the 18th Annual Haunted America Conference on June 20-21 – a change in venue for the conference speakers and vendors. Due to unavoidable problems, the Lincoln Theater in Decatur has been forced to shut down their power and (hopefully) temporarily close their doors. This means that the general conference events will not be held at the Lincoln. Instead, we will be moving the event to the official lodging for the conference, the Decatur Hotel and Conference Center, located on Route 36, west of downtown Decatur.

However, ALL of the After-Hours events that were going to be held at the Lincoln will still take place there. This includes the 1916 Theater Ghost Tour, the Lincoln Theater Ghost Hunt, and the Haunted Decatur Tour will still start and end at the theater. Only Rosemary Ellen Guiley’s Necromanteum sessions (Friday and Saturday nights) have been moved to the Decatur Hotel and Conference Center. The Masquerade Party on Friday night was already scheduled to take place at the hotel.

We understand that the change in venue may be disappointing to some of you since we will not be holding the event in a spooky location, but the After Hours events will stay the same and we have a number of advantages to moving the event:

1. We will have ample seating and comfortable chairs for the speakers, as well as upgraded sound and projection system and a clear view of the stage and screen. We will also have a separate vendor room, directly across the hall from the conference sessions, which will cut out all of the noise and provide a lot of space for vendors and rest breaks.

2. We will have more parking than we would have had downtown. Since last year, Decatur has completely revamped all of the parking downtown and have actually taken away many of the spots. We have more parking than we could possibly need at the hotel and you won’t have to search for an extended time to find a spot or to try and remember which street you parked your car on. You’ll only have to leave if you have signed up for an After-Hours event at the theater on Saturday night.

3. If you’re staying at the hotel (and why wouldn’t you, with the discounted conference rate?), you don’t have to drive anywhere to get to the conference – just come downstairs. Plus, there is a restaurant and a bar right on the premises. This will make is easier to enjoy the After-Hours Masquerade Party on Friday night and still make it to the conference on Saturday morning!

I’ve included a revised schedule of events at the end of this announcement.

We are sorry to have to change things up at this point, but the issue was unavoidable. Rather than cancel anything, I have a fantastic staff who took it all in stride and worked hard to make sure that this would be the quality event that we have always offered in the past – perhaps even better than it would have been otherwise!

If you have not yet signed up for the conference, we hope you will and will lend us your support as we make these changes and put together another great year. You can still register at by going to the registration form here and we’ll hope to see you at the conference!

Thanks for your support!
